Another book that amazed me while perusing Amazon, was called "Paper Blossoms" and although there is no video the still shots are unbelieveable...check it out at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0811874192/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER Now, I actually saw this at a local bookstore and bought it immediately...what can I say?? I wanted it then and there! The other popup book which looks wonderful will fulfill every woman's shoe fetish and all the shoes will fit on your bookshelf, so, check this out to see if the shoe fits...although these you just can't pop on and wear! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/160710086X/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER So, that's three gifts off my list...well, maybe...if I don't end up keeping them for myself...Enjoy!!
Although I love (let's just say passionate) the book arts, there are times when I will break down and buy a commercially-produced book either because it just amazes me or because I'm going to use it as a learning tool...well, I came across just such a book (actually 3) that I will include here. While looking on Amazon for holiday gifts, I came across a delightful video on a pop-up book, called "Popville". I watched the video and was mesmerized...and, then realized that the book was marketed to younger children, and I was purchasing it for an adult...well, isn't Christmas always about being a child again? Here's the link for you to enjoy: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1596435933/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

One of the wonderful new sights I've been remiss about mentioning is a place located in Brooklyn, NY called Central Booking. Established by a wonderful book artist, Maddy Rosenberg, Central Booking is another haven for book arts in New York City. From exhibits incorporating broadsides, book arts and installation work to video, and other new digital art forms, Maddy Rosenberg presents the scope of book arts in a gallery environment while maintaining space for other book artists such as Aimee Pollack ad Laurie Spitz, Miriam Schaer, Doug Beube and many more for perusing and viewing their work. One of the new series that Central Booking has begun is the presentation by book artists of their work and one of my favorites is speaking this Friday, Doub Beube. He will be presenting his work, collages and other mixed media works this Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Admission is $8. If you can't make it, here's a link to view some of his fabulous work from the Donna Saeger Gallery:

Book Artists did!!!10/9/2010 One of the joys of having more time is to sit back, relax, reflect, or do something special for yourself with your own special time...When the Guild of Book Workers pulled together an exhibit entitled "Marking Time" curated by Karen Hanmer their special creations certainly made my special time very special for me. Enjoying these exquisite works one on one at Lafayette College's Skillman Library is a joy! But if you can't get to the East Coast to view these works in person, here's an online version complete with its exhibition schedule...Click on the link or copy and paste into your web browser to begin enjoying these wonderful artist's books.

Two more artists' book exhibits will be opening this week!! At Moravian College's Haupert Union Building in the H. Paty Eiffe Gallery, Bethlehem, PA an exhibit entitled "For the Birds" runs from 10/4 through 10/30 with an opening reception on Wednesday, October 13th from 4:30-6 p.m. The artists books of Maryann Riker of JUSTARIP Press will be on display as well as collage works based on poetry with themes of birds and their unique symbolism.
