Here it is July already and summer sun is beating down...where to go, what to do...besides being poolside with salsa and a mojito. Well, if you're near New York City, here are some fun things to check out! Still showing at the Met, "Savage Beauty", the Alexander McQueen exhibit. On Met Mondays, you can have the museum to yourself along with a $50. ticket to view this fab exhibit minus the crowds. Downtown at the Center for Book Arts is the annual members' show, this year culled from the Center's holdings...lots of familiar names to ogle and feel bookish about! Want to catch a show? "Follies" by Stephen Sondheim starring Bernadette Peters opens in August. Tickets on sale now at the Marquis Theater! Another great show winning 5 Tonys is "Warhorses" now showing up at Lincoln Center at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Coupling puppetry of horses manipulated by 5 puppeteers and ridden by humans, this takes the level of puppetry to a whole another level. Check out www.broadwaybox.com for discounted tickets! Want to visit Italy without leaving the US? The Times Discovery Center's Pompei exhibit gives one a sense of that time and place of grandeur before its destruction. Also on view for the kids, is the world of Harry Potter. Go south to New Orleans for a book arts show entitled "Bookmarks" at the New Orleans Museum of Art. For more information go to www.noma.org. Head to Philly for a Renoir show at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and visit The Reading Terminal for great food and buys. The Fabric Workshop with a great exhibit area and annex gallery is always worth checking out.
